A necklace by Emily GreenA few months ago, after much umming and ahhing, Ms Carpet and I finally bought ourselves an Emily Green necklace each, in different colour combos (predictably, I choose that blues+greens one). We loved ours so much and wanted to spread the Emily Green-love to Singapore so I bought the Liesl (the pastel-y one in the picture) for my pal Poochie.
Rosie & Robbie Cut-&-Stitch Tote Bag by TMOD
I believe in giving things that I myself would want to own (and there are so many things that the Sydney-based TMOD girls do that I love!). This bag with its Likkle Bwoy + Girl illustrated paperdoll-style would have been mine a long time ago if I don't already have a big pile of calico totes. If I can't have it, a pal of mine should. A boy pal who's not afraid of wearing cutesy things.
Pubs of the Inner West by Leigh Rigozzi
This collection of comic strips by a Sydney-based artist is such a funny read! So good for showing foreign pals a slice of Sydney's hipster-y youth culture. We bought this copy at the Oxford Street Design Store (a great place to shop for very affordable designed-and-made-in-Australia gifts!) but you can also purchase it direct from the artist here.
Clever Rabbit Brooch by Little Love Boat
Another purchase from the Oxford Street Design Store. A man-brooch for boy pal who wears a lot of polka dots. See more of Melbourne-based Little Love Boat's goods here.
Murray River Pink Salt Flakes
My favourite present to give to non-Aussie pals! So pretty and quite uniquely Australian. So easy to pop in the mail/pack in suitcase. Good for the environment. And loved by every pal that I've given some too.
Handmade Bunting by Reedy Hollow Vintage
This is the second Reedy Hollow Vintage piece that I've bought at the Follow Store. The first was for a pal who moved to New York (something that will remind her of Australia + light to pack for her new apartment). This is for a pal's new baby girl's nursery.
Free Local Music Magazine
For music-loving pal.
Slices Of Sydney - A Taste of Our Villages
A cute little free booklet that we hope would tempt our have-not-visited-us-in-Sydney pal to come come play with us one day soon. It's as colourful as the city that we live in and so niftily-designed (the cover is also a fold-out map!).
All cool and subtly Aussie-centric. And not a koala, kangaroo or boomerang featured.
