The bulbous heart locket on the box link (I think that's what they're called) chain was my first purchase of the day from a sweet old lady with the best hairstyle ever - a totally white short pixie cut. Very very cute.
Ms Carpet and I then left the market to go to some of the shops in the neighbourhood but decided to go back after lunch for a second look-around.
Glad we did for I found the round one (as bulbous as the heart and on yet another box link chain) at a stall that wasn't set up earlier in the day. The stallkeeper, when I was trying to bargain her down, told us that it's from the 1930s. I'm not sure if that's true but I was already in love and she gave me a good price so I bought it.
What I really love about it is the engraved arrowhead-like details on the hoopy bit (anyone knows the proper name for it?) that goes on the chain. Don't see very much of that around these days. The lockets that I already had on when I went to the market, needless to say, were ecstatic - two new pals in one day!
The boyfriend said that they are a noisy bunch, that it's amazing how by just adding two more to the usual number that I wear can make such a big difference to the clackety-clack. But I like that, like a puppy, or a kitty, with bells around its neck.
In fact, I would love to add to the noise with these lovelies that I saw on India Knight's blog...
...custom-made and hand-engraved sterling silver medals (my own pretty puppy tag?). You can read more about them - where to buy, how much and such - in her post. And while you are there, you HAVE to look at everything else that the lovely lady is sharing for she is another lover-of-pretty-things. Big time! You will like, I promise.
