It's been perched on its holding box (I need a dress form!) since late October, taunting me for leaving yet another project unfinished.
If it wasn't for an email from my Beading & Embellishment class teacher two days ago, the Monowing would still be mocking me.
In the mail, he said that the principal of ESMOD has finally said "yes" to showing the works of evening course students (that's us) at their full-time students' graduate show and if we could go set our work up this weekend.
Nothing like a bit of pressure to get things going. Haha.
It's done! And I can move on to the next project that I might not complete.

You finished! It looks great!
The blue scales really got my attention, i'm biased towards anything blue over other colours maybe. How are you feeling! About completing it and having your work displayed :]
P.S. Nice arms!
ok now i think i prefer the peacock side!
hooray! it's done!
I must say, the colour coordination are brilliant. looking at the front and back makes me want to blurt out two words- heaven + nirvana.
i love love love the wings!
well-done you! :)
This is one of the most beautiful and original things I've seen in a long time.
It looks fantastic. You must be thrilled.
It's totally impressive! I love the little clouds holding up the wings!
Hey Carpie,
I finished the inspiration boards on time last night too! Phew! xx
Hey Smeowly,
Feeling very very relieved! And quite proud of myself for finishing it.
I like the blue "feathers" more than the red scales too. I'll make a bad mother. x
Hey Monkeycrab,
Haha! One more vote for the peacock! x
Hey Nah-nah,
Yes! If it wasn't for the show, I think it'd still be sitting there, unfinished, for a long time.
Tee hee hee! I like our visual-word game! xx
Hey Mrs yAnn Thick!
Thank you! I am jolly pleased. x
Hey Doll,
Gee, thanks!
I have a feeling that we might be seeing loads of cheap made-in-China shoulder embellishment/adornment-type things in chainstores soon...the trickle-down effect from the catwalks? x
Hey Katie,
Thank you! I am thrilled! It is not too different from the version I first had in my head.
How was Samoa? x
Hey Jinny-jin!
They are my Chinese-style clouds. A motif found very frequently on embroidered old Imperial robes. x
Amazing! I want one!
Hey Lin,
Thank you.
I don't know how serious you are about wanting one because I don't think I'm going to make another piece exactly like it.
Maybe scaled-down versions that are not as complicated to embroider and bead. x
So brilliant, congrats on a job amazingly well done! Great news on the graduate show - hope you get to show your wings! xx
Sorry! I didn't mean to be cryptic. I was just trying to say how much I love your monowing but I'm a poor penniless student so I don't think I could afford a simple version let alone the haute couture one. Love your jewel necklaces too.
Hey Lin,
No need for apologies, you silly billy!
If I do make a simplified version of the Monowing, I hope to make it as affordable as possible.
Thank you for the love! x
Hey Top Bird,
Thank you!
The graduate show was cancelled because the school got shut down after they sent out the email! (http://likklegirl.blogspot.com/2009/11/shocking-news.html) xx
this is so incredibly gorgeous.
Hello Laura,
Thank you! And thank you for visiting too! x
WOW! This is extraordinary. You really are an ARTIST.
xxx Proud Gigi
In capital letters? I don't think so, Gigi. Not even near small letters. xx
