Pwetty In Pink No More

Dress - Cheap Monday, Sweater - it belonged to our pal Roger, a straight man who is not afraid to wear pink, Boots - Secondhand Frye, Bag -Paul Frank, Watch - Casio G-Shock, DVDs - Civic Video

I don't usually wear this much pink (accents, yes...nearly a whole outfit, no) and I don't do obituary/posthumous tribute-type posts (in pink or not) unless those who died really mattered (see here - the only sort-of one that I've written).

John Hughes was one of those. Not romanticising things here but like the music that the other John shared, the teen-flicks that he made in the 80s, my formative years, played a big part in making me who I am today and a lot of my friends from those days who they are now.

We're staying in tonight with three of his films. I'm going to cry buckets (I always do at his movies) and laugh and irritate the boyfriend by reciting lines at the most inopportune moments.

RIP "Uncle" John.

He was so damn young! I feel the same.

Hey Clever Cat,
Not even 60! It's a real shame.
And the boyfriend and I have always harboured a silly wish of him making sequels to those teen flicks - with all the characters all grown up, using the original bunch of actors...where-are-they-now type of stories. Sigh. xx

Sounds like a perfect way to spend a night! And love that you dressed specially for it. RIP John.

Haha, no. The pink things were exchanged for flannel jammies (not pink) when we got home. x

You look adorable as ever.

Devastating news on John Hughes - and I didn't even have access to my DVD library to commemorate! xx

Hey Top Bird,
Thank you. I really should try to look less adorable and more my "real age" soon.

Are they back here in Australia? We took the movies out from our neighbourhood video shop. My personal collection were all on video tapes. Haha! Dead. Like all the soundtracks on cassettes. xx

Hey Shilvia,
Thank you. A very lucky buy at a sale. The first time I went they had only one piece in "XS" - couldn't zip it up! I went back a few days later and found this in "S" - the only piece too.

You have to watch all his teen movies if you haven't already. Get a box of tissue paper ready. x
